Ado Always is a small town surrounded by hills and lush vegetation is Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In this town is one of the two suspended lakes in the world after the hanging lake in Colorado, USA.

The lake is known as Iyake Lake, Iyake Lake settles at the top of a mountain called Ado Awaye. This Lake never dries even in dry seasons, and the water in this lake is always never rises in raining season, it's always on the same level always.


This lake (Iyake Lake) was discovered around 1500AD by the Dihormy refugees who are now head of the kingmakers for Also of Ado Awaye chieftancy. The oba says there are myths surrounding the Iyake suspended Lake and Ado Awaye mountain.

One of the myths according to the king is that Iyake Lake was a barren woman who turned into water. It is also believed that when you have spiritual problems and you Consult the lake it's provide solutions.

According to the history, the lake is bottomless (it has no end) and no one is allowed to swim or go into it. Till today, whoever enters the lake never comes out of it, it is said to be the main god of fertility of the Mountain.

The Ado Awaye mountain serves as a heritage and centre of unity for all and sundry. The people celebrate the Oodua festival at the mountain on yearly basis.

According to the villagers, their believe is that beneath the lake exist another world just earth, and whoever transits into that world by diving into the lake will never be able to return to our own world again.

After the death of former Oyo state governor on Thursday, it was expected that he would be buried within 24 hours according to Islamic rites. But surpringly, the funeral rites of ex Senator and Governor, and has been postponed by the family. The postponement was announced by Bolaji Tunji, a spokesperson for the family of the deseased. According to the Nation Newspaper, Tunji told reporters in his Oluyole, Ibadan residence on Friday morning that the family would soon make an announcement of the burial programme.
