BREAKING: Magu Finally Released From Detention

Nigeria's Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu has revealed what he knows about arrest and detention of Ibrahim Magu.  Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu   The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu has opened up on the arrest and detention of suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.   He said that the police have no hand in his detention.   Magu is currently being interrogated by a presidential investigation committee headed by Justice Ayo Salami following corruption allegation against him from the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.   Magu has been detained for about 10 days at the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID.   Following the detention, the former anti-graft boss’ lawyer Tosin Ojoamo, had written to the IGP requesting for his bail.   But in a response to the request, the police boss denied a hand in Magu’s detention, attributing i

The National Assembly suspended the Public Works Programme penultimate week following a disagreement between its committee on Labour and the Minister of State for Labour, Festus Kayamo. The federal lawmakers had accused Keyamo of hijacking the recruitment exercise from the National Directorate of Employment, which got  N52bn approval to carry out the programme. It is a sad news for football fans as former Nigeria Women Football board member has died after a brief illness.  Henrietta Ukaigwe   Nigerian soccer fans are mourning the shocking demise of former Nigeria Women Football board member, Henrietta Ukaigwe.   Speaking on her death, the Chairperson of the NWFL Aisha Falode explained that the deceased passed away after a brief illness.   Ukaigwe had for several decades been at the vanguard of promoting the game of female football in Nigeria and even beyond these shores.   Before her death, she moved into football administration, she was a sports reporter and worked for many media houses in Imo state.   Ukaigwe while she was alive also made her impact felt in the Nigerian Women League as she was among the people who fought for 20 teams to be in the topflight.   She was even said to be looking for a big sponsor for the Nigerian Women League which is currently on suspension before she died.   The Nigerian Football Federation also declared Ukaig

Agaba, who was in charge of Maritime, Safety and Shipping, was said to have embezzled the funds from the agency.  Ezekiel Bala Agaba According to Sun News, the Federal High Court, Lagos has sentenced a former Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Executive Director (ED), Captain Ezekiel Bala Agaba, to jail. The man was sentenced to seven years imprisonment for laundering N1.5 billion. Agaba, who was in charge of Maritime, Safety and Shipping, was said to have embezzled the funds from the agency. The number of medical doctors who have contracted the coronavirus in Lagos state has been revealed.  File photo According to TheCable, the Medical Guild, an association of doctors under the employment of the Lagos state government, says more than 200 doctors involved in the fight against COVID-19, have tested positive for the disease. In a statement, Oluwajimi Sodipo and Ismail Ajibowo, chairman and secretary of the guild, charged the state government to be more committed to the welfare of health workers, especially those treating COVID-19 patients. The guild, however, accused Lagos government of painting its members in a bad light over a three-day warning strike. The association advised ministries and agencies of Lagos government “to imbibe spirit of engagement and negotiation to enable people of Lagos to enjoy uninterrupted healthcare services”. It said since its inception in 1926, the guild has been at the forefront of innovative strides and collaborative efforts with the government

Foreign students under threat of deportation have nothing to fear again after the government rescinded the plan.  Donald Trump   A federal judge has revealed on Tuesday United States government decision to cancel its controversial plan to revoke foreign student visas whose courses move online due to coronavirus.   The universities of Harvard and MIT, with the support of a number of other institutions, had taken legal action against the move that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on July 6.   “The government has agreed to rescind” the decision as well as any implementation of the directive, Judge Allison Burroughs said in a brief hearing.   Harvard and MIT earlier this month had asked the court to block the order announced by ICE that students must leave the country if their classes are only online, or transfer to a school offering in-person tuition.   The measure was seen as a move by President Donald Trump administration to put pressure on educational institutions

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, 463 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic was recorded in the country.    463 New Cases Of Coronavirus Recorded In Nigeria The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday July 14 announced that 463 new cases of Coronavirus was recorded in Nigeria.  A breakdown of the new cases across states is as follows; Lagos-128, Kwara-92, Enugu-39, Delta-33, Edo-29, Plateau-28, Kaduna-23, Oyo-15, Ogun-14, Osun-14, FCT-12, Ondo-9, Rivers-9, Abia-8, Bayelsa-5, Ekiti-3, Borno-2.  There are now 33,616 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 13,792 patients who recovered have been discharged. 754 deaths have also been recorded.
