Lopsided appointment: You are engaged in beer parlour talks ― Senate tells Buhari’s critics

Abubakar Dangiwa Umar and others  who have accused President Muhammadu Buhari of lopsided appointments into Federal Government establishments and agencies. The Senate while defending the appointments so far made by Buhari’s administration, described such criticisms and comments as mere beer parlour talks. The lecture, which was hosted by the Faculty of Science, was moderated by Dean of the Faculty, Professor Adenike Boyo, with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun(SAN), as the Chief Host. A Professor of Biochemistry at the Lagos State University, Babajide Elemo, who spoke on the sub-theme: “COVID-19: Adequate Nutrition as a First Line of Defence,” harped on the need for regular consumption of balanced diet. BUA Ports resumes operations, as NPA withdraws termination notice

BUA Ports and Terminals, a subsidiary of BUA Group, will soon resume operations at the BUA Terminals within the Rivers Ports. This is just as the Nigeria Port Authority (NPA) is set to immediately withdraw the notice of termination of concession it had earlier issued BUA in 2019. The NPA had, in May 2019, decommissioned the BUA Terminals within the Rivers Ports, following a disagreement between the NPA and BUA over repairs of a jetty in the terminal — a move BUA contested. A statement by BUA Group, on Wednesday, revealed that plans are in top gear to immediately restart operations.

Covid-19: Oyetola reopens churches, mosques for two weeks

Jumat prayers not to exceed 20 minutes Church services only for one hour Shina Abubakar Osogbo Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Wednesday directed religious centres to reopen for two weeks after holding separate meetings with Christian and Muslim leaders in the State. A statement by the Spokesperson the governor, Ismail Omipidan stated that the governor disclosed that the decision to reopen worship centers partially was in response to the request by religious leaders and the resolve of the Federal Government to lift the ban on religious activities. He said the state government had prepared some guidelines that must be followed to forestall possible spread of the virus as a result of the reopening, adding that further actions by the government would be determined by the effect of compliance level to the guidelines by churches and mosques during the two weeks.

Student, 18 raped to death in Ibadan

Ola Ajayi – Ibadan A teenage student of the Federal College of Animal and Production Technology, Moore Plantation, Apata, Ibadan, has reportedly been raped to death in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. The 18-year old girl whose name was given as Barakat Bello was said to have been assaulted in her residence at Akinyele Local Government Area of the state. According to information, the student of Laboratory Technology was attacked on Monday but her corpse was later discovered.
