Nigeria Records 350 New Cases Of COVID-19, Total Infections Hit 11,516

COVID-19 cases in Nigeria increased further on Thursday with 350 cases reported by the country, even as the nation intensifies efforts to flatten the curve of the pandemic. The new cases were confirmed by the specialist agency, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Twitter. This takes the country’s total infections to 11,516 out of which 3,535 have been discharged with 323 losing their lives. Data from the NCDC showed that the cases were spread across 19 states and the FCT, with Lagos accounting for the highest number of infections for the day with 102 cases. 3 brothers in police net over alleged killing of mother of 5 in Abuja

Three brothers have been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in Abuja, according to Mr. Frank Mba, Public Relations of the Police Force. Mba, in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, said the suspects, from Isiekenesi, Ideato Local Government Area in Imo, are helping police investigation into the May 14 murder of Mrs. Janet Ogbonnaya, a mother of five children. He said that the suspects were arrested by the police in their home town, where they had allegedly taken refuge after committing the crime in Abuja, to evade arrest. Mba said that investigation that led to their arrest followed complaints by one Chinedu Ogbonnaya, who alleged that his mother, Janet, 55, a native of Ozuitem in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, had been kidnapped. Ogbonnaya told the police that N5 million ransom was being demanded by the kidnappers to secure the mother’s release. FCTA Releases Guidelines For Re-Opening Of Worship Places

The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, on Wednesday June 3 2020, chaired a meeting of the FCT Administration and leadership of the FCT Christian Association of Nigeria and League of FCT Imams Initiative to review the guidelines issued by the Presidential Task Force on COVID 19 particularly as they concern places of worship. While reviewing the guidelines, the meeting received briefings from the FCT COVID 19 Emergency Response Team on the situation of the pandemic in the FCT. The report of the Committee set up by the Honourable Minister on May 19 2020, to draw up protocols to be adopted for possible re-opening of places of worship, was equally received at the meeting. FG removes fuel price cap, gives marketers freedom to fix price

…Says PPPRA to advice on monthly price By Michael Eboh The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, has removed the cap on the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, giving marketers freedom to fix price of the commodity and sell above the price stipulated by it. The PPPRA, in a document released, yesterday evening, titled, ‘Market Based Pricing Regime for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) Regulations, 2020,’ stated that, henceforth, the price of PMS would be determined by market forces. In the document signed by its Executive Secretary, Mr. Abdulkadir Saidu, the PPPRA, however, stated that it would continue to monitor trends in the crude oil market and advise the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and oil marketers on the monthly guiding price for the commodity. Ogun govt confirms 2 new cases of Coronavirus, discharges 4 patients

With this development, Ogun State now has 109 active cases of COVID-19, the government said in a release on its social media handles. “Ogun State has discharged 4 COVID-19 cases on 3rd June 2020, after they tested negative to the virus. The total number of discharged cases in the State is now 164. “However, 2 new cases have been confirmed, making the total number of confirmed cases 282. "With a total of 9 related deaths so far sadly recorded, the State currently has 109 active cases,” it was said. Kaduna Government consults stakeholders on safe reopening, to announce new steps next week

The Kaduna State Government has paid tribute to citizens of the state for their perseverance and the dignified manner they have borne the inconveniences occasioned by the enforcement of the Quarantine Order. By Bashir Bello KANO – Officials of the Kano State Task Force Committee on COVID-19 has on Thursday said the number of positive cases in the state is spread across 30 out of 44 Local government areas of the state. The Technical Coordinator, Dr. Tijjani Hussain who disclosed this during the Committee’s press briefing in Kano, said of the 30 LGAs affected, nine LGAs has the highest number of cases which accounts for 90 per cent of the cases. Dr. Hussaini also said 76 per cent of confirmed cases recorded so far in the State were male patients. According to him, “As at Wednesday, 970 COVID-19 cases were recorded, out of which 607 were active and 318 have been discharged. “The cases were spread across 30 LGAs. COVID-19 patient absconds from Jos isolation centre

A male COVID-19 patient has absconded from a Plateau isolation centre, the Coordinator, World Health Organisation (WHO), Mr Williams Bassi, has said. Bassi made the disclosure during a courtesy visit to the palace of the Gbong Gwom Jos, Jacob Buba, on Thursday. News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the officials of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), WHO and the state Ministry of Information, had paid a courtesy visit to the royal father to begin the campaign on COVID-19 in Jos North. The WHO coordinator, however, stated that efforts were on to trace the fleeing patient and return him to the centre to complete his treatment.
