Kano conducts 4,735 coronavirus samples test

The Kano State Government says it has conducted 4,735 Coronavirus (COVID-19) samples test since the outbreak of the pandemic. The state Ministry of Health disclosed this via its verified Twitter account @KNSMOH on Monday in Kano. “A total of 4,735 samples of COVID-19 were tested in Kano State.” It disclosed that three new confirmed cases of the virus were confirmed, 40 patients discharged and two deaths recorded in the state as at May 31. Accordingly, the state recorded a total of 954 confirmed coronavirus cases of which 669 were active, 240 discharged and 45 deaths. The ministry urged residents of the state to observe safety protocols, personal hygiene and use of face mask, hand washing as well as social distancing to stem further spread of the pandemic. Ibrahim Magu, the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has reacted to the arrest of Nigerian Instagram celebrity, Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi. Magu distanced EFCC from Hushpuppi’s arrest, saying the commission was not involved in it. Recall that International Police, Interpol, had a few days ago reportedly arrested Hushpuppi in Dubai, United Arab Emirate, UAE. Interpol in connection with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, had arrested Hushpuppi over alleged fraud. He was accused of hacking into the United States, US, unemployed database and defrauding them of over $100 million meant for Native Americans in the battle against the coronavirus. Hushpuppi’s arrest had drawn mixed reactions  from Nigerians. While some condemned him others were sympathetic. Nigeria Records 627 New COVID-19 Cases As National Toll Exceeds 15,000

With the latest development, over 1,300 samples tested positive within 48 hours, it has been reported.    File photo Nigeria recorded 627 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the country’s total to 15,181 confirmed infections. Friday’s figure is slightly below that of Thursday, 681, Nigeria’s highest daily toll. According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the cases for Friday were recorded across 22 states and the federal capital territory (FCT). With the latest development, over 1,300 samples tested positive within 48 hours. While 12 new deaths were recorded, the number of recoveries rose from 4,494 to 4,891 patients. A total of 397 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours, the highest ever daily recovery in the country. Lagos maintained its increase in number of new cases on Friday with 229 new infections, while FCT which recorded no case for Thursday, had the second highest new cases with 65 infections. The Police in Adamawa has confirmed the alleged killing of 18 suspected kidnappers by thunderstorm in neighbouring Republic of Cameron and not in the state. This is contained in a statement signed by the spokesman of the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, on Saturday in Yola. The police command is reacting to viral social media reports on Friday that thunderstorm had killed 18 kidnappers in Toungo Local Government Area of Adamawa.
