Real Madrid ace, Luka Modric has revealed how Tottenham Hotspur manager, Jose Mourinho, almost made Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo cry during their time together at the Santiago Bernabeu. Atiku seeks review of law on rape

Atiku, who spoke against the rape and subsequent death of the University of Benin 100 level student, Miss Uwa Omozuwa, inside a church building in Benin, in his verified twitter handle, canvassed for stiffer punishment for anyone caught raping women. He said: “It is time we reviewed the laws on rape to ensure that there are no escape routes in the investigation, prosecution, conviction and adequate punishment for this heinous crime.” Atiku also commiserated with the family of late Omozuwa. “I just spoke to the family of the late Uwa Omozuwa. By Olasunkanmi Akoni Lagos State Government has expressed confidence in the clinical trial of hydroxychloroquine as treatment for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) despite controversy. Recall that World Health Organisation, WHO, Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, two weeks ago announced the temporary suspension of testing of the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine as a potential treatment for COVID-19 as a precautionary measure. The suspension came days after US President Donald Trump announced he had been taking hydroxychloroquine as a preventive measure against the virus. The WHO had previously recommended against using hydroxychloroquine to treat or prevent coronavirus infections, except as part of clinical trials. Lockdown: Osun relaxes curfew, orders civil servants to resume

Gov. Gboyega Oyetola of Osun has announced the relaxation of the curfew imposed to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state. Oyetola in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, on Friday in Osogbo, also ordered civil servants on grade level Seven and above to resume work within normal office hours. He directed departmental heads to work out alternate working hours for staff on grade levels One to Six. Oyetola further said that the curfew was earlier 6. p.m to 6. a.m would now be from 9.p.m to 5.a.m daily. The governor, however, said that the curfew would be relaxed for 14 days in the first instance. Oyetola also said that the total lockdown earlier imposed on the state from Friday to Sunday had been eased for 14 days in the first instance. Only 57 percent of Nigerians have access to electricity – UN

The United Nations (UN) global energy progress report says 110.7 million Nigerians, out of a 195.8 million estimated population had access to electricity as of 2018. The UN launched the report on Thursday. The figure represents a 57 percent national electricity access rate. This is way below the global average of 90 per cent. It is expected that Nigerians would argue that fewer than 57 percent have electricity access. The report indicated an increase in the number of Nigerians with access by 34.6 million people from 76.1 million in 2010. It noted that the world has made “promising progress’’ towards ensuring universal access to sustainable energy over the last decade. The number of people without access to electricity dropped from 1.2 billion globally in 2010 to 789 million in 2018. In Nigeria, the number of people without access increased from 82.4 million in 2010 to 85.2 million in 2018. Rwanda says it will announce new restrictions on containing the coronavirus Tuesday, a stark reversal of the country’s plan days ago to ease restrictions, including motor vehicle travel throughout the country. The Bureau of the Boards of Governors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has authorised an independent review of the report of the ethics committee of the boards of the Directors and submission made by Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the bank.
