Man remanded for allegedly raping two girls in Ekiti

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates‘ Court, on Tuesday, remanded one Taiwo Odetunde in a custodial center for allegedly raping two girls, aged 13 and 14. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adefumike Anoma, who did not take the plea of the defendant, ordered that he be remanded pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). The Prosecutor, Monica Ikebuilo, while presenting the case told the court that the accused committed the crime on June 9, in Ado-Ekiti. Ikebuilo said that the defendant defiled the two girls, who are friends, by luring them to his house after promising to sow nose masks for them. She also explained that when the victims got to his house, he locked the door and threatened to kill them with a knife if they shouted. “He then had unlawful carnal knowledge of them one after the other. “It was the intervention of a neighbor, who raised the alarm, that led to him being apprehended,” she added According to her, the offense contravenes Section 2(2) of Ek

COVID-19: Nigerian govt draws up plans to reopen schools, submits to National Assembly

The Federal Government, on Tuesday, submitted proposed guidelines for the reopening of schools in the country to the National Assembly. The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, made the presentation during a meeting with the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education. Nwajiuba explained the ministry’s plans for students to resume to the lawmakers. Schools were closed down in March, as part of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria. “In the document provided, we have suggested how we can move our education sector forward during this pandemic. “We don’t want to make it known at this time so that some people will not take our proposed guidelines for school reopening. “The documents were presented to you so that you can criticise and make inputs as major stakeholders,” Nwajiuba said.

From Anini to Shina Rambo, Nigerians have suffered in the hands of notorious armed robbers who have ended badly as they lived their lives on the fast lane.      Ishola Oyenusi   Ishola Oyenusi, popularly known as Doctor Oyenusi, was a notorious armed robber who terrorized the people of Lagos and other neighboring cities in the 1970s.   Ishola Oyenusi and his gang of six were highly skilled in snatching cars, robbing banks, factories, stores and killing people like chickens. Doctor Oyenusi, as he was called, was not a doctor by profession but adopted the title for the fun of it.   The evidence lies in a confession he made few minutes before his execution. Singer, Dbanj took to Instagram to shade celebrities who called him out for arresting Seyitan, the lady who accused him of rape.    D’banj, Seyitan Babatayo Singer, Oladapo Oyebanjo popularly known as D’banj, has once again reacted to the backlash he's been receiving on social media after a lady, Seyitan Babatayo, took to Twitter to accuse him of raping her in 2018, an allegation which the singer denied. Reports emerged last week, claiming Dbanj ordered the police to arrest Seyitan over her allegations and this angered lots of Nigerians including celebrities, as they took to social media to call the singer out and accuse him of intimidating Seyitan. Reacting to the backlash he received following the alleged arrest of Seyitan, Dbanj shared a video on Instagram of him dancing to his hit song 'Olorun maje' which is a Yoruba phrase that means 'God forbid'.
