WHO reveals source of fresh Ebola virus outbreak in Africa

The World Health Organisation, WHO, has revealed the likely source of the new outbreak of Ebola virus in Republic of Congo. Director-General, Dr.Tedros Ghebreyesus on Wednesday debunked reports that the new outbreak is linked to the previous outbreak in the region. According to him, the new Ebola virus is likely from an animal source. Tedros said this during a virtual press briefing on Wednesday. He disclosed that investigations were still ongoing to determine the source of the new outbreak of Ebola. Tedros said “Genetic sequencing from new Ebola cases in Democratic Republic of Congo has revealed that the outbreak is not linked to north kivu or the 2018 equetor outbreak, investigations are ongoing to understand the source but likely a new introduction from an animal source.” DAILY POST recalls that WHO had on Tuesday confirmed  eight fresh cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD)  in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Suicide: Experts call for more awareness of mental illness

The Head, Clinical Psychology Department, Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Lagos, Dr Tayo Ajirotutu; a United States-based Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist, Dr Stella Bassey-Okoronkwo and other individuals have called for more awareness on mental illness in Nigeria, saying suicide incidents have continued to rise especially during COVID-19 pandemic. They also urged the government at all levels to ensure schools, have at least, one psychologist on their staff list emphasizing, that the ideal would be the duo of a counsellor and mental health practitioner, adding that religious bodies should also create a mental health unit manned by mental health experts at their religious centres in order to reduce the rate of suicide in the country. EPL: Bayer Leverkusen take decision on Kai Havertz joining Chelsea

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director, Rudi Voller, has ruled out any possibility of midfielder, Kai Havertz leaving the club amid interest from Premier League giant, Chelsea. Chelsea is reported to have started negotiations with Leverkusen about a potential transfer of the Germany international this summer’s transfer window. The Blues owner, Roman Abramovich, is willing to give manager, Frank Lampard, significant backing in the transfer market this summer. Reacting to the development, Voller insisted that Leverkusen is doing everything possible to keep the 20-year-old beyond this summer. “We have not given up hope that he will stay with us,” Voller told ARD. “We try to give him every possibility that he can call up his qualities. “He did an outstanding job in the second half of the season.” Havertz who is under contract at Leverkusen until June 2022, has also attracted interest from a host of top European clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United.                                  

UI confirms Obaseki graduated from the institution in 1979

By David Royal The University of Ibadan (UI) has confirmed that Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki graduated from the institution in 1979 with a Second Class Honours (Lower Division). This was confirmed in a statement by the university’s Registrar, Mrs Olubunmi Faluyi, who said that Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, studied Classics.
