School resumption is imminent as Federal Government set to decontaminate nationwide
The minister of environment Dr Mohammad Abubarka in a meeting on Thursday on the 2020 world environment day told newsmen about the effort of the ministry of environment to Decontaminate all schools in the nation before resumption.
Globally world environment day is June 5 every year.
The minister of environment said all the health personel in all the six geopolitical zone in Nigeria will handle the decontamination of schools before resumption.
Abubakar also stated that "arrangement have been made with the management of airport and and owners of airline to begin decontamination of airport because aviation is the key and must be handled for safety purpose".
Thr minister also said the pandemic disease that's ravaging our community is more of a blessing in the sense that it has helped in lowering the rate of emission from automobile and aircraft.
He said this base on the Paris agreement signed by most countries to cut down emission but the covid-19 pandemic have helped in achieving that.
The minister also said that this year's WED will still be celebrated despite the covid-19 pandemic.
He noted that they must try all they can to put effort to contain the spread of the covid-19 as they they continue to fight the crisis as an environmentalist.
For the above reason the UN thought it's wise to address biodiversity with the theme 'Time for nature', and provide infrastructure that support life on earth.
The minister noted that millions of plant and animal are at the risk of extinction due to the activities of human which and this must be tackle to prevent specie loss and degredation of biospecies.
The minister also said the theme "Time for nature " is very important as researcher and scientist have proven covid-19 to be a zoonotic disease.
So in other to fully prevent the outbreak of any future pandemic they must conserve and protect biodiversity as the main remedy for covid-19 recovery.
This year 2020 is for urgency, ambition, and action to tackle the crisis facing the nature as reviewed by UNEP.
