NUT Speaks On Schools Reopening, Issues Warning To All The Teachers (Details)
The Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), from the Lagos State Chapter, Mr Adedoyin Adesina, has sounded his warning to all the teachers nationwide, says teachers should disregard the virtual learning being organized for the primary and Secondary school students across the country during the period of school closure prior to the outbreak of the deadly virus, coronavirus pandemic.
He said teachers must starts afresh by continuing from where they stopped before schools nationwide were shut and students were asked to stay at home indefinitely.
Adedoyin, however, recalled that both the federal and some state governments are engaging the school students in virtual learning, making use of different digital platforms, including television, via social media and radio, during this indefinite schools lockdown.
Adedoyin noted that the teachers should not get him wrong, saying it isn't that the virtual learning isn't helpful, but the problem is that it can never be effectively substitute for physical classroom teaching, mainly in Nigeria where people are experiencing serious technology and other social economy challenges.
He noted that the virtual learning activities is just to keep the students brain alive.
Adedoyin issues warning that, failure for the teachers to abide by this, will bring about a problem.
