APC mourns Ajimobi

Late Senator Abiola Ajimobi


The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday said the demise of Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the former deputy National Chairman, South has cost the party a decent man whose spirit and character embodied the party’s progressive mantra.

The party, in a statement by its National Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni, said it was deeply saddened by the death of Ajimobi, the immediate-past governor of Oyo State.

“Senator Ajimobi’s death has come at a crucial time when the party is looking up to our well-meaning leaders to champion the needed reforms and reconciliation moves to be undertaken by the newly-appointed caretaker committee of our great party.

“The APC has lost a decent man who in spirit and character embodied our progressive mantra.

“In mourning, we remember the fond memories and indelible strides Senator Ajimobi left behind. We will always remember a loving father, husband, gentleman, astute administrator, patriotic Nigerian, fine politician who was exemplary in all his private and public endeavors”.

The party condoled the immediate family, the government and people of Oyo State as well as the entire APC family over the painful loss of the former governor of Oyo State.

It also prayed Almighty Allah to be merciful and grant Senator Ajimobi Aljanat Firdaus.

463 New Cases Of Coronavirus Recorded In Nigeria As Total Cases Escalates To 33,616

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, 463 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic was recorded in the country.    463 New Cases Of Coronavirus Recorded In Nigeria The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday July 14 announced that 463 new cases of Coronavirus was recorded in Nigeria.  A breakdown of the new cases across states is as follows; Lagos-128, Kwara-92, Enugu-39, Delta-33, Edo-29, Plateau-28, Kaduna-23, Oyo-15, Ogun-14, Osun-14, FCT-12, Ondo-9, Rivers-9, Abia-8, Bayelsa-5, Ekiti-3, Borno-2.  There are now 33,616 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 13,792 patients who recovered have been discharged. 754 deaths have also been recorded. COVID-19: WHO to update clinical guidance for treating patients

The World Health Organization (WHO) said it is moving to update its guidelines on treating people stricken with COVID-19 to reflect results of a clinical trial that showed a cheap, common steroid can help save critically ill patients. Trial results announced on Tuesday showed dexamethasone, used since the 1960s to reduce inflammation in diseases such as arthritis, cut death rates by around a third among the most severely ill COVID-19 patients admitted to hospital. The WHO’s clinical guidance for treating patients infected with the new coronavirus is aimed at doctors and other medical professionals and seeks to use the latest data to inform clinicians on how best to tackle all phases of the disease, from screening to discharge. Although the dexamethasone study’s results are preliminary, the researchers behind the project said it suggests the drug should immediately become standard care in severely stricken patients.
